Quick introduction. I got my adorable 2ish month old Syrian hamster, Arthur, yesterday. I’ve left him alone and only given him his standard food mix as of yet. I’m planning on giving him a little bit of carrot when he wakes up, as he was already eating this at the pet shop and the woman who worked there suggested we start with that.
However, while shopping today and buying bits and bobs for his cage, treats etc, I came across a hay roll with fruit inside for my hammy.

It’s pretty big and I know it wouldn’t be healthy to leave in the cage forever most likely. So how long should I leave it in there? Or is it safe to leave inside dangling from the ceiling of his cage?
