It's actually one the German's use - called Ponal Classic - it's brilliant stuff and glues wood absolutely solid. Doesn't smell of anything and looks a bit like thin copydex - I have used it to glue legs onto houses. I am not sure if a child should use it though as it may glue their fingers if they get it on their fingers. I wouldn't use any of the other wood glues personally due to the toxic fumes.

It's not cheap but it's a big bottle - I've been using my bottle for over 2 years on all kinds of things! Been useful round the house too. It's non toxic but as I say not sure I'd let a child use it!
