What sand are you using? I think it was Racing Hamster on here who had a dwarf hammy who had skin issues from using sand. That is a possibility but seems unlikely if she's always had a sand bath - unless you've changed sand or the sand has changed. The Tiny Friends (formerly supreme) Chinchilla sand has changed recently - it seems darker and coarser. I've switched to the Rodipet one - some people use the sterilised children's play sand from Argos.
