I would also recommend the Rodipet hybrid mix
It has in everything that is needed and good quality ingredients. It's not cheap because the postage adds to the cost, so I get 2 tubs at a time so they last a long time and save on postage. It's probably as good as a home made one and is safer.
You can still supplement with "extras" - so for extras I give a nut twice a week - eg a bit of walnut or brazil nut. A pinch of linseeds on a separate little dish. The bag of Linseeds is about the size of a bag of sugar and it will last forever! A bit of fresh veg every day, and if you happen to have a roast chicken one week you can give them a bit of plain chicken or any plain cooked meat that have. No sauces or flavourings though.
So supplementing with fresh food can be better than making your own mix. You can also give them a bit of scrambled egg or porridge. Ours eat it off a teaspoon. They do love fresh food!
