I don't know exactly what cats can and can't do to a detolf but you could either weigh the lid down with something or find a way to lock the lid shut. If it's one continuous lid you could attach a turning pin sort of mechanism to each wooden end so the lid can't be lifted - much neater solution. I considered adding magnets to mine to make it stick more but ended up forgetting to. Without anything the lid just sits there really, mine is quite lightweight.
