Default Meet Kiko :) The fluffy little boy :)

Hello fellow ham-moms and ham-dads! I decided to re-introduce Kiko to all of you in this subforum instead of the introduction section Hope you don't mind the "duplicate" thread!

A short introduction- I'm a musician living in St. Petersburg, Russia, and previously lived in London, Kyoto, and in Singapore (where I was born). I've had many hamsters growing up, but since I left for college in London I've stopped keeping any, until last year where my fiance and I found Kiko in a little pet store while on the way to grab some dinner.

The store owner said Kiko was the runt of the horde- he was much smaller than his brothers in the cage, and he was all alone in a corner while his chubby and greedy siblings were crowding around a food bowl. His brothers were also beige, and he was the only orange boy. We felt a little sorry for him, and asked to hold him in our hands, where he just sat obediently and looked at us with his precious eyes. We gave him a little kiss on the forehead, and he immediately hid his face in our hands. That melted our hearts and we decided to take him home then. For the following weeks we nursed him back to full health- feeding him every 3 to 4 hours, and providing him with a balanced diet of pasta, chicken, tofu, broccoli, carrots, apple, peach, and of course, dry hammy food. We also gave him petting sessions, which we call "pat-pat time", several times a day, and groomed him with a little comb and brush.

Kiko is now our little precious and spoilt boy- he needs his "pat pat" every day, where he would sit on our bellies or lap while we give him head strokes for almost an hour every evening (and he sometimes fall asleep), and he would keep us company on the sofa or on our beds where he would just lie and laze around before heading to his playpen for his daily evening activity He has learnt to be really obedient while we groom him too- he wouldn't move an inch while we comb and brush the bedding off him, and even brushing his belly doesn't pose a problem HOWEVER, if we are late in the evening, he would usually throw a tantrum and mess up the bedding in the cage, and stand really still and stare at a wall while ignoring us

I sometimes travel for work and Kiko would miss me (he's more attached to me than my fiance). Every night in my absence he would try to escape his playpen, bite the roof railing of his cage, and basically do anything to annoy my future wife He usually tones down if he 'hears' my voice over the phone or over FaceTime I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true! When I return from work he'll often just snuggle against me for hours, and my fiance will call him a 'traitor' haha!

We recently found an abscess on his bottom and brought him to the vet a couple of days ago after reading some advice from my fellow ham-moms and dads on the forum. He was a brave little boy and had it drained and cleaned. The vet says it might return but she taught us how to do the procedure ourselves if it's a small abscess, and to return to her if we didn't know how to drain it, where she'll do it again for free!

Once again thank you all for your care and concern, and it's great "meeting" everyone on this amazing forum!
