Thanks for your response! It's nice to know it is a significant upgrade. The Ferplast Mary is a nice cage but it is just too restrictive in my opinion in regards to space especially since a twelve inch silent spinner appears to take up at least one third of the space. The fact the Barney has a deeper base is something my hamster will love as she likes to burrow and make big nests. It's a good job I didn't throw out the extra sputniks etc as well as the hanging bridge! I am thinking I might place padlocks on the doors and be extra careful if they are worse than the doors on the Mary but I will definitely keep that in mind since more than a few people have also said the doors could be better.
