Yes they are okay for Syrians as long as you get a 12” one - not the regular size. That size is quite enormous so you probably wouldn’t want it in the cage, but it would be fine in a playpen. I’ve not used a large silent spinner before but I’ve heard it’s quiet - the regular ones are definitely quiet anyway.
