Default ~Introducing Rebel~

Hello Everyone! I hope you're all prepared for a rather long post tehe!
I've posted some pictures below of her, however I mostly take videos so they're not the greatest.

NOTE
Before I begin, I'd just like to say that on my personal introduction I mentioned that Rebel was purchased. I know a lot of people here are advocate of 'Adopt don't Shop' but at the time adopting a hamster didn't even cross my mind. Any future hamsters I hope to acquire will hopefully be adopted or rehomes.

PROFILE

Name: Rebel
Age: 6-7 Months (Approximately)
Gender: Female
Species: Campbells Russian Dwarf (The species she was sold as)
Coat Colour: Blue Fawn (Not entirely 100% on that)
Eye Colour: Red

PERSONALITY
Rebel acquired her name from her mischievous and curious personality!
She is a spritely little hamster that loves nothing more than to run around exploring. She typically has bundles of energy and can often be found in the middle of a marathon on her wheel!

She enjoys nothing more than to investigate new things within her surroundings however can be wary of them at first, I recently acquired a puzzle playhouse for her and at first she didn't seem too interested in it, now sometimes during the evening she can be found topping off her store and even sleeping in the little nest she's made for herself out of carefresh!

Rebel frequently enjoys time out of her enclosure to run around and investigate anything she can get her paws on, often chewing and testing anything in her way!

She is usually quite good to handle however due to recent events (Of which I'm going to post a separate post on, due to needing advice) Rebel has found that this is not something she is particularly enjoying at the moment, so to save both stress to her and myself I simply get her out using a little plant pot or cup.

Overall Rebel is just like any other Dwarf, especially in the sense that she loves treats! If Rebel can eat it, Rebel loves it. Her bowl is often times almost always empty except for the grass pellets.

Her favourite treats are Dried Mealworms, Carrot and Hazelnuts!

SHORT STORY
This section is to briefly explain how I ended up with Rebel!

So to cut a long story short, I ended up with Rebel as thanks to a small white Russian that I'd been given the task of handling and cleaning as a part of a course I was studying in animal care.

The experience I had with that little white ball of fluff made me want a pet or companion of my own, so I took it upon myself to do some research.

After a few weeks of gathering supplies, setting everything up and blagging some peoples heads I finally went to "look" at some hamsters.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted a Russian Dwarf as I'd done my research on Syrians and Robo's and decided that I wouldn't be able to keep a Syrian comfortably in the space I had set up and that Robo's weren't the best for me especially that I'd never had any experience in handling such small and fast animals.

As I was looking at the Russians the store had for sale, the person I was with pointed out a little creamy/browny/white ball of fluff sat curled up under a bendy bridge, I wasn't really too sure at first as there was a lovely dark Russian I'd seen that had really caught my eye.

However after about ten minutes of contemplating my options and being slightly persuaded by the person I was with, to pick the little creamy/brown/white Russian, I did decide to go with that one who just so happened to later on be called Rebel.

The people at the store weren't really sure if she was a male or female at the time and to this day, I'm still not 100% sure either given that she has a very prominent and obvious scent gland in the middle of her belly that apparently, females rarely seem to have. But whatever she happens to be, it makes no difference to me as she will always be known as Rebel regardless.
