Thanks to everyone for the advice. My mum bought a flying saucer wheel and when first introduced to it Thursday night, Monty constantly went flying. He ended up pushing it against the side of the cage, and as this slowed it down, he was great in it! It was taken out and put in on Saturday for a little, and this time he was used to the speed of it and didn't go flying at all. It was taken out after about 15 minutes of careful observation and now his usual upright wheel is back, and he seems to be stopping running and flying around and out of the wheel, debatably either or both on purpose or unintentionally. Now I'm unsure what to do as I don't want him hurt but I don't know what is the best option for him. I'm going to try the saucer again later and see how he is on his current wheel... It's a process.
I plan on looking at the suggested wheels soon so that I can have a quick backup plan if this plan falls through.
