Of course you deserve your ham! This is in no way your fault, accidents do happen. You are a good owner because you care about your ham and are concerned. People who are not good pet owners will not care or be concerned about it. It always very hard when your ham is lost, there is so much stress involved. Souffle gave great advice on why not to use a hamster ball. The balls are poorly ventilated and they are normally to small making a hamsters back arch which can leave to arthritis and other back problems. A playpen in much better. You can go in your tub and lay a fleece blacket down (if you do not have one, you don’t have to put a blacket down). You can sit in the tub with them and put a few hides in. This is a great binding activity and gets some energy out. Please don’t beat yourself up about this.
