Default Re: Should I clean my hamster's tube? *Pic*

Ok, so my hamster is still chewing on the blockers and now he's started to chew quite frequently on the bars. I think his cage is too small for him now. I feel awful about it.
I'm ordering a new cage on Thursday, but until then, we're trying to take him out as much as we can, handle him, let him in his ball, but he's super unsettled in his cage, when putting him back in, he runs up to the bars and gets out again, if the door is closed, he'll chew and chew on the bars.
We've started putting a blanket over the cage and found this way, he doesn't chew on the bars. So I wonder if it's because he's used to seeing me and knows he's going to be let out?
Either way, to me, it's worrying behaviour. I clean out his cage regularly, change the water, given him lots of bedding to burrow in, put a tunnel underneath, but he's just trying to get out....
