Toads are good swimmers if need be; however, they require land. They lay their long strands of eggs attached to the leaves of water plants near the water's edge where they were hatched. Unlike frogs, they do not have to guard their eggs from being eaten by predatory fish, etc. due to them spreading foul-smelling, toxic secretions on them.
I look forward to seeing your toads prior to you releasing them back into the wild. I'm glad that the tadpoles enjoyed their mosquito snack instead of the mosquito snacking on you or your family. I am scared of female mosquitoes since they such blood and some spread diseases, too.
