Don't panic, it's not too much trouble to care for an extra hamster in a separate cage just as long as you have the space. You would have pretty much had to buy two of everything anyway even if they lived together. You just have to purchase another cage which of course is a pain, but again you would have likely had to do that anyway as fights commonly break out between pairs and they need to be separated anyway. At least now you don't have to worry about that happening. If you need any guidance on suitable cages or how to look after them just ask.
