I get the same things. I however use the vouchers as they are available and you can use the money to buy a little gift for your current hamster or even buy some treats to donate to a rescue. I think Crumpet would be very pleased when he looked down and saw that he had sent you or a needy pet a present. There are often boxes in the stores where you can drop your gift in to be collected by the rescues. I never get anything on my own birthday so I don't think you should worry about that.
