I like the idea of Bekki's about putting a kind of acrylic guard up. Acrylic isn't cheap though - you could use cardboard but not so glamorous at the front of a vivarium. I think anything will fall out without a guard of some kind though. If you google acrylic cut to size on line or something, there are various places that will let you put in the exact size of a piece of perspex/acrylic you want and work out the cost and you can order online - a piece to fit as a guard shouldn't be too expensive.
