Some hams do really enjoy the flying saucers but it does make them run in a position that isn't ideal so they're best used just for occasional use in a playpen or something like that, they also take up a lot more room in the cage than an upright wheel & you can make better use of the space you have with an upright one.
Which wheels have you tried? The best really well made, silent wheel which is highly unlikely to break is the silent runner (not silent spinner!).
