Default Hamster stays in cage a lot

I’ve had my hamster about a month and would consider him tame, doesn’t bite anymore, will sit with me etc. But recently he’s been wanting to stay in his cage, I’ll open the door and he doesn’t tend to run out like you’d expect. He doesn’t seem to be anxious or scared because he runs around and plays in the open, takes treats from me, comes over to me when I sit by his cage but like I say he doesn’t rush to actually come out and quite often he’ll walk himself back in the cage after playing with me. Is this okay? I suppose it shows that he likes his cage?? I worry he’s unhappy but if hamsters don’t like their cage for example would they run out, like if he didn’t want to be kept in it. Probably way over thinking things lol
