I don't think there are many if any ferret owners on the forum now but there was a thread a while back which will give you some basic info about ferrets here.
They're not the easiest animals to keep as pets so it would probably be worth looking to see if there's a good ferret forum out there somewhere or contacting a breeder for some advice.
