I don't refer to my hammys as having separate meals like humans do lol
I feed them at night just before they get up and then the next night I see what they ate and if they need more food I'll give them more food. The little green alfalfa pellets are really annoying as most hamsters won't eat them. So I pick those out or just let my hammy's eat everything except the green pellets and just toss them. This is Higgins Sunburst I'm referring to.
There are some hamsters that you just can't pick up for various reasons like nervousness or skittishness or biting. If you rushed the taming in the beginning since you've had him for 7 mo, maybe that is what's making him nervous. I'd try what Drago suggested. Hope he will be able to become fully tame but if not you can still have him in a play pen or exercise ball. It's good to give him out of cage time as well. Hope this helps..
