Yes, mice are very social creatures. Does must be kept in groups of at least two, but trios and larger are better. Bucks must be kept alone. I personally feel mice are social, regardless of their gender, and thus all my male cages are kept beside one another. The problem is that they're testosterone ridden creatures who are extremely territorial. Neutering them can solve this problem and allow them to live with does, but any procedure in small animals is very risky and could end tragically. I will not opt to neuter my males as they do live beside one another and interact through the glass of their tanks.
