Depends on what you like? Pet stores sell them about 10-12 weeks old in my area, if you get your hamster from a breeder you could get them younger pretty sure?
It's a nice thing to rescue a hamster that nobody wants as well, is rewarding to bring some happiness to a hamster in need. Hope this helps
