It's unfortunate when you get a chewer! Your little un sounds like she has quite a character luckily though, chewers are very uncommon. 99% of hamsters will not try to chew their way out of their cage. And a hamster who will try this in the Barney, is just as likely to try it in the Alexander or other cage of the same sort so it's not really the Barney's fault in particular. This kind of behaviour does mean that that particular hamster is more suited to tanks, as you have found!

If Dudley is a chewer, you will know already as he will have started chewing his way out of his current cage. If he has done so, I agree that you should look for a tank. If he has not, you'll do fine with the Barney or other similar cage.
