Default Re: Leaping hamster

When I have to tame a new hamster, I do twice a day 10-15 min sessions. Once in the early morning and once in the evening. Little and often works best I find.

I’m sure once she is settled in her cage she will like it just fine. The jumping at the wall behaviours are her trying to escape her play box. Usually, hamsters feel more secure in their own home, especially if you provide deep substrate and places to hide. So, I expect she will be ok. And, as you say, it’s for the best

Plus, as cypher says, the jumping does not necessarily mean she hates the box! Looking for an escape route is natural behaviour and just shows she is energetic, curious and eager to explore further.
