Default Re: Leaping hamster

April has said it all Although she seems quite tame, the leaping from hands does suggest she is not fully tame yet. It's called "pinging". When she feels more secure and trusting with you, that should stop. You certainly sound like you have a maverick female Syrian there! It's time and patience. She needs to be settled in her cage (which she is trying to chew out of! So she is clearly very active and wants to get out!) And also it can be a slow process of regular taming sessions until she is more relaxed and doesn't jump out of your hands. It took 2 months with our last Syrian - bathtub taming twice a week.
