Don’t know about the silent spinner, but the 12 inch silent runner can be attached to the cage bars.

I have the 12 inch silent runner attached to the bars, rather than free standing, primarily because I worry about it falling over on top of my ham if it were free standing. However, I want to stress that this is probably me beig paranoid. Many people have free standing wheels in their cages with no issues. Not sure about whether they could get wedged between the wheel and bars...

Having a big enough wheel is really essential. The silent runer is one of the best wheels out there, so buying one would be a brilliant investment.
