Okay. I was thinking of maybe bending the bars to fit a tube, and cutting the mesh of the tank lid, because its already sorta broken, and connecting with hamster tubes. I would use safe hot glue to glue the tube to the open bars, and to the mesh of the lid. That seems like it would work?

The smaller cage looks like this: Hamster - Teakari's Sta.sh (the first pic) and I didn't know about the aspen before, thanks! I may try half of sand half of carefresh(since I already have carefresh)
