Default Re: Mineral/salt stones

I would listen to your vet Chiela, while it's true that mineral stones aren't generally good for healthy hamsters as they don't need the extra supplement & the excess can lead to kidney stones & possibly other problems that is healthy hamsters not hamsters that have health problems, I know Isa has had some problems for a while now & you've had trouble finding a suitable diet that she will eat so I would take the advice given by the vet & if she's eating better with her current diet then stick to that.
It may even be that apart from not eating all she should with something like Harry Hamster she may not be absorbing everything from her food (just a possibility but something the vet might have considered?) & if so would need the extra she would get from a stone or supplements.
