Default No Chinese hammys anymore around here

There aren't any Chinese hammys in Buffalo anymore. All the pet store vendors aren't breeding them. But in Rochester, NY, an hour drive, there is a male Chinesey.

They just have the one that's been in the store for a long time I believe. The store says he's 5 mo old but he was there along with 2 other Chinesey when I adopted Paris 3 mo ago.

They said that after he's gone they are not selling anymore Chinese hamsters. Think I should get him? I already have 6 hamsters so I don't need anymore but since they are extinct now maybe I should get him?

When I saw him the 1st time he looked like one of his eyes wasn't blinking right & the other male in the cage with him had the same blinking problem. Could be nothing? If he does have something wrong that would be a vet visit.

The pet stores say they plan on never carrying them, ever again. So should I drive to Rochester & rescue this male or forget about it? I could keep checking Craigslist & SPCA or I could drive to Rochester?

Edit: Decided not to get him Hope he finds a good home soon
