I have the 12 inch silent runner, which I think might swing around too much if held by cable ties.

I just measured it and the wheel is 9cm wide. The platform I had been considering putting it on is 15cm wide. I don't know if 6cm would be enough space for him to move around the wheel in...

Edit: Scratch that, I've found another platform which is 25cm wide. I'm pretty sure that would be safe as it would leave 16cm for him to move around the wheel in.
