It really depends on the species as to whether or not the size is appropriate.For Russians(including hybrids)it wouldn't be that good,but you could use two if directly connected(remove part of the sides to each bin,position where they're touching and attach with zip ties in a similar way to adding zip ties to attach mesh to the lids of bins).

Make sure the wire is square shaped and not just any sort of wire mesh/hardware cloth/chicken wire,as not every type is suitable.The vinyl coated type is not suitable at all,and the ones without square shaped holes aren't a good choice either.For the actual spacing you want 1/2 inch or 1.27 cm spacing
