I have two cats but they never have access to the hamsters.
As natural hunters and curious creatures I personally wouldn't feel safe having them near them. Even if they couldn't get at the hammies I would worry that the smell and presence of a predator might cause the hamsters stress. I also would not like to take the chance that they might knock over a cage and the hamster escape and be lost or killed.
I also have have dog who also does not have access to the hamsters.
