Your hamster isn't going to get cataracts from being in a wired cage. Normal levels of UV are extremely unlikely to give your hamster cataracts and some UV is needed for them to be healthy, just like with humans. Plastic cages do not absorb uv radiation and all that would happen from keeping your hamster in a habitrail is it's more likely to overheat from the poor ventilation (not to mention, the cages are extremely small and poorly made).

If you'd like to keep your hamster in a plastic cage, please consider there's much larger and safer options such as : the Duna Multy, Duna Fun Large, or making a bin cage that's at least 70x40cm.
