I've only kept dwarfs so I don't know if syrians tend to be the same but I've found that while males can be quite laid back or even curious about the scent of another ham females can get very upset by it so it may depend on which you have.
I would give them a good clean between uses to remove scent & most definitely never put the two together anywhere.
