Hello there,
Syrians are very much a solitary creature and should not be put together however if you're using the same ball or temporary cage at separate times then that should be fine.
It might be best to give the exercise ball or temporary accomodation a quick clean before allowing the other hamster to use it just to make sure that there are no issues with the different scents bothering them.
