I'm sure it would be fine for the occasional supervised photoshoot, but I wouldn't let them have it full-time in the cage or in a playpen. I would worry about them chewing the plastic, getting their claws caught in any gaps and walking on the bumpy surface because they can develop bumblefoot from uneven surfaces. There are many safer alternatives like the Puzzle Playground, if you have a dwarf hamster and patience.
