I tried offering Inky a bowl of water once, and she looked at me like I'd gone mad... I'm glad some hamsters are more adventurous than her!

Something else that might work as a bowl that would require less cleaning, if you have a barred cage, is a coop cup. They're very cheap and are designed for birds, but have the advantage that they are kept a little higher off the ground and can't be tipped over.
