I always recommend freezing any type of bedding for 24 hours before use, but it isn't too much of a worry in all honesty. I believe hemp is a type of wood correct? If so, it was likely kiln dried, and the process of kiln drying rids of many nasties. If you're really worried go ahead and freeze it, but don't feel too freaked out if you don't
