Somehow it seems I missed this thread - I'm glad I seen this thread now as Jaska is such an adorable and handsome hamster.
It's sounds like his confidence is gradually growing with all your patience and love.
Love his unique use of the flying saucer as a place to put his food - you could try an enclosed wheel it might help him to feel safer.
