I would definitely recommend a bin. As amityville said, one great thing about bin cages is the fact that they're so customizable, and can be expanded upon easily. They also hold way more substrate than most barred cages which is another pro for using them, and like you said, monkey barring worried you, but with bin cages, this isn't an option. Bin cages are fairly easy to make, you don't even necessarily have to read how or watch a tutorial. If you're willing to put in a bit of effort, I'd say switching to a bin cage would be a great option!
