You'll look back and laugh one day. I had a rat who refused to go back in the cage after free range. He hid under a massive sofa bed. Pulled the whole thing to pieces and every time I almost got him he darted under another bit. I gave up at 2am after several hours. I have a photo of him peeping out from where he was hiding and he had this massive smile on his face.

Anyway. I slept on the sofa. 4am I woke up to him on my actual face. Literally face plonked on me. Of course the moment I stirred he jumped off and ran back under the bed but I got up opened the cage door and said Theo do you want to go back in now? He was peering out, saw the door was open and raced back inside. The massive plonker. He wanted a drink!

Stay calm, they can sense your stress and that makes them uneasy.
