If your thinking of getting another hamster in a 40 gal tank, I wouldn't upgrade, I'd just have 2 hamsters, each in a 40 gal breeder tank. Plus have to consider how much space is going to be necessary for a bigger cage. I can't imagine bringing a 55 gal tank into my apt as they are so heavy. That's just me tho
