We use natural stone in our syrian boy's home, mainly under his water bottle or in front of his wheel depending on cage setup. This works for Ralph in keeping his nails trim. I got this tip from Erinsanimals on YouTube and we find it works! You can sanitize stone -if I remember there was a video on that too (Hopping Hammy if I recall). Little one also runs a lot on his wooden bendy bridges which probably help with keeping nails trim.
