If she is shy she may be avoiding coming out when she knows you're around. You could try putting a small bit of substrate on top of her wheel when you go to bed and see if it's gone in the morning

If it has she's been using her wheel during the night. It is cold weather at the moment too so make sure she has loads of nesting material and the room is warm enough - we leave a little oil filled heater on overnight at the moment and have a snugglesafe heat pad on the side of the cage as well.
