If DIY stuff is a bit frightening, bin cages are easier than cages that involve making wood lids and whatnot. Mine was quite easy to make and my ham seems happy. I think bin cages are better than tanks anyway because you can put windows on the sides as well as the top so there is more ventilation. You don't want your hamster living in a greenhouse.
