Congratulations on your new hammy
I have had three female hamsters, two Syrians and a Chinese. The Syrians have both been VERY active, one more than the other, and the Chinese was more laid back and would fall asleep on your lap. So although I would say females are more active based on experience with friends hamsters, it really is down to their individual personalities.
