Newsprint/newspaper is kind of a controversial thing for lots of different pets
While it can be safe,it can only be safe if you actually know that they only have nontoxic ink.Even then,you want to know exactly what type of ink it is,as some inks may be nontoxic to humans or other animals but toxic to hamsters.Overall though it's just easier to stick to plain paper and things like that,but there are some really cool plain paper mache hamster DIY's!
