Or you could block the hole and have a bottle on a stand in the cage maybe. That hole does look rather large and I'm wondering if it has been chewed larger! You often hear of hams chewing at the water bottle hole in these cages as a way of trying to escape! You can make a water bottle stand from a small mineral water bottle. Cut the top off where it curves in so you have a straight sided bottle, open at the top. Fill the base with some stones so it stays upright and make a hole in the side for the hamster bottle nozzle to stick out of.
