I've been looking into substrates lately, since carefresh, the substrate I've been using for my past syrians, is getting pricey. £4 for a fairly thin layer in their current cage is a bit ridiculous! I've been wanting to provide enough substrate for my hamsters to dig around in, since they seem pretty keen, so, buying in bulk it is! I'm concerned about the dust, so I'll be going for aubiose, perhaps mixing in something like megazorb for areas in need of more absorbency?
