I just wanted to say - there is nothing more you could have done. You hadn't had him very long and he may have had something from before you got him or just had a congenital weakness that flared up (like a congenital gastro-intestinal weakness) almost like some people have Crohns disease. It is very sad for you all. I hope it doesn't put you off getting another hamster. Some people get a hamster from a breeder - that way you know their genetics and they have been brought up and fed well from birth.

The main thing is you gave this little hammy a loving home for their short little life, after a difficult start in life being born in a pet shop or somewhere that wasn't the greatest start.
